I, personally play, because it's a way to cheat my way into a state of being that I very much need. To be. Ok.
When I play at or with something I am focused on what is bright, fun, ooo, yah, let's do this, or, what if we...?
It's all light light light and if I stay on long enough, that magic carpet takes me to some of the favoritist places I've ever been.
Play is, quite simply, the easiest way to be who you really are. It relaxes you. It focuses you. It demands clarity and willingness to deeply engage. And in such wholehearted presence, you reclaim total bandwidth and the pure delight of having your full resources at your disposal is no small win.
The magic works like this: while you have your full willingness lined up, you are not thinking about all the stuff in your life you don’t like and don’t know what to do about, the gerbil who won’t eat carrots or the girlfriend who isn’t the one.
Inside, you are entirely focused on the game, on the playing, on your pleasure, and what is required of you to successufly play and the tone of that focus is very happy, and is a match for the creative life flow.
And so, great play lets it in.
