This one’s short and ends with that youtube where the drunk guy tries to dance-prove he’s sober to a very amiable cop lady.
The video makes perfect sense because when I think about Living Deeply, I see the image of a person closing their eyes and trying to touch their fingers together out in front of them. One hand represents whatever the heck is going on in your now, making dinner, writing a blog post that involves drunk dancing videos, whatever it is. And the other hand is your presence and whatever the heck it’s on.
For example, as I’m writing this, my mind keeps wandering to comments on my blog, or the way that person acted and fuck them how dare they. When I wrestle my mind back to the writing (that’s still been going on btw - who the heck’s running the show?) I reread what my crazy ghostwriter just put down and have to highlight the whole paragraph and press delete.
When I press the two fingers of my awareness and what’s actually going on, together, the circle closes, like an ensō, scrawled in my now, there’s contact, and the whoosh can flow through the point of connection. When I take my attention away, there’s nothing to carry the current of Source energy and it doesn’t get directed.
There’s a teeny weeny, massively important note tho, sometimes we think we are thinking about what’s before us, but actually we’re just mindlessly buttfucking all our unexamined and untrue stories about what’s going on and so we’re not actually just present, just here, just engaged with now, however it’s unfolding.
Contact. Presence. Flow.
You can tell you’re connected because you feel in, in flow, easy, good, going with it, you feel yessy and real and unchecked out and present and vital and glad to be alive.
You can tell you’re not because you feel unseated, antsy, blamey, unclear, checked out, anxious. This is an indicator that something is keeping you from putting your two fingers together. Here are some tips for getting those beautiful fingers back together:
Ok, now time for the drunk dancing guy.
Have fun diving deep you beautiful Ensōs
